Is there any other word for it? He's... he's... original. I loved Lupin solely for the fact he was a werewolf. Now, someone who is evil as Voldemort to practically worship *grins maliciously*. Fenrir probably would take the Wolfsbane Potion so he wouldn't kill, though he would love it. I can't express the joy I have in the neme Fenrir Greyback. I would easily join his side and be bitten by him VERY willingly. |

Fenrir Greyback is truly one of the most hauntingly evil characters in modern "literature". He's just....such an interesting character. My favorite HP character ever is Remus Lupin, so it's an absolute shock to see what a "real" werewolf is actually like. We've been nursed into thinking they're all like Remus, he even said he felt bad for Greyback, but then we see the truth, like he did. We saw that werewolves, while cast aside unfairly by the Ministry and the wizarding world in general, are not all sad, lonely, and noble like Remus. Both are the extremes of both sides, but Greyback seems to offer a clearer picture of werewolves. I read on a site somewhere that Remus can be viewed as an exception, extraordinary and, dare I say? a minority within a minority. I highly, highly doubt that most werewolves are like Remus. Granted, they're not all like Greyback either, but Remus even said they're leaning towards his side. Greyback simply fascinates me. I mean, he practically is (forgive the connotations) a child molestor. I mean, just think about it (or maybe just don't, I really don't wish to provide unhappy mental images for people). He gets them while they're young in order to "mold" them to his whims. It's so clever, really, in a twisted sort of way. Obviously, somehow, Remus escaped that. I can just picture Greyback biting a child and, if he/she survived, dragging them off to some underground lair to...basically..."break them in". I imagine it's a very nasty business. And most of the werewolves are probably so scared of him that they'd do whatever he tells them. He is like the Lucius Malfoy of the underworld without the sleek, smooth, quietly cruel way. He is big, loud, aggressive, and down-right cruel, and not afraid of what he is. I think it's brilliant for JK to have given us such polar opposities in Remus and Greyback, an absolutely amazing stroke on her part. Gives you an insight into how much Remus truly has suffered - how all werewolves have suffered. |
